Description
Helsinki is interested in exploring the idea of the New European Bauhaus (NEB) from the point of view of design cities. Our own design journey is coming up to 10 years – Helsinki was World Design Capital in 2012. Since then, we have used design to better understand the needs of our different users, to improve our services and own processes, and to drive systemic change in complex societal issues and phenomena.
We are keen to see how cities today use design to make cities more inclusive and sustainable.
We are especially keen to look at issues of co-creation in the built environment.
Who is part of creating our cities?
What kind of tools and mechanisms do cities use to co-create and how do our governance systems support co-creation?
Ultimately, how do we together imagine the future of our cities?
Welcome to explore with us the role of cities and design in the New European Bauhaus.
We will learn about design stories from Helsinki and together with leading design cities from across Europe discuss how cities might work together to co-power our communities.
