Elisa Ferreira

Elisa Ferreira is the European Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms. She is in charge of promoting a balanced territorial development of the whole EU, with a particular focus on reducing regional disparities of the less developed regions and supporting the economic reconversion of the regions most affected by the energy transition through the Just Transition Fund. Commissioner Ferreira is also in the co-lead of the New European Bauhaus initiative. With a background in economics and academic experience as a professor at the University of Porto, Elisa Ferreira has held roles in Portuguese politics, including Minister for the Environment and for Planning, Member of the European Parliament (MEP) and vice-Governor of the Central Bank.
