Material : Cotton family upholstery fabric
This piece belongs to my "Chaos maîtrisé" collection from my final year in fashion design studies and illustrates a complete process of upcycling.
This trench coat has been entirely crafted from hangings dating back to 2010, featuring floral patterns of roses. Drawing inspiration from Edouard Manet's painting (1864) "Branche de pivoines blanches et sécateur", spontaneous brushstrokes made the roses fleshy, fluffy, and soft amidst the chaos revealed by scattered cuts, giving the fabric a new, modern, and original design.
Guided by my awareness of eco-responsibility in the fashion industry, my aim was to breathe a second life into this fabric.
This is concrete proof of the possibility of utilizing things that have been produced and used in the past which, after transformations, thanks to creativity, are reborn into new, modern garment, imbued with the emotional of past life!
