Circular Threads Workshop

Biennale Architettura 2025, Venezia.  Threading together practices, people, and systems for material reuse in Ukraine's reconstruction.

Circular Threads is a discursive continuation of the Circularity on the Edge installation, expanding it into a platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration.

This two-day event brings together people, practices, and places to explore how circular approaches to construction and reconstruction can be accelerated, with a particular emphasis on the Ukrainian context.

The workshop is a collaborative effort between EEN Ukraine, ReThink, CRa and Circularity on the Edge, and will be held in parallel with the Venice Biennale Architettura 2025. It is organized as part of the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) initiative, supported through the SMP EEN project.

For whom: We do not impose strict eligibility requirements. However, this workshop will be most valuable for those who work with or are interested in circular economy and circular construction.

You might be an architect, urban planner, designer, researcher, curator, or manager. What matters most is your motivation to engage in collaborative, reuse-oriented approaches — particularly in the context of Ukraine’s recovery.

Why: Architects, urban planners, designers, and other built environment professionals are driving creative and systemic materials reuse in the built environment. However, many of them in Ukraine still face obstacles in implementing circular solutions in their projects. The workshop aims to create new connections between Ukrainian and foreign professionals to empower recovery projects and introduce materials reuse opportunities. During the exhibition visit and a one-day workshop, participants will learn about international practices and establish partnerships for further collaborations in the Ukrainian context.

Please fill out the application form to participate. Application deadline: Apr 28, 2025

Important: Participation is free of charge. However, travel and accommodation expenses are not covered. The working language of the workshop is English. Applications will be evaluated based on criteria such as field of expertise, experience with materials reuse, interest in circular recovery, and overall motivation. Spaces are limited.
