New European Bauhaus at World Expo 2025 Osaka

From 13 April to 13 October 2025, the EU will proudly participate in World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. The New European Bauhaus is set to bring its vision and core values directly to the EU Pavilion.

NEB principles inspire the EU Pavilion design

The EU Pavilion at World Expo Osaka 2025 embodies the New European Bauhaus values: aesthetics, sustainability, and inclusivity.

The Pavilion’s design celebrates aesthetics by merging form and function in a beautiful, inspiring space. Modern architecture meets Europe’s cultural heritage, blending soft lighting, open spaces, and art to invite reflection. It brings to life the NEB’s vision: a future where sustainability, inclusivity, and beauty coexist in harmony.

At the same time, the Pavilion champions sustainability, using eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient technology to reduce its carbon footprint. This design demonstrates Europe’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.

Prioritising inclusivity, the EU Pavilion features accessible elements and multilingual guides to ensure all visitors can engage fully. Interactive exhibits and communal spaces encourage dialogue, celebrating diversity. Workshops and co-creation areas invite ideas for building more inclusive communities.

The NEB at the Expo

Alongside its values integrated into the EU Pavilion, the New European Bauhaus will have further opportunities to inspire visitors at World Expo Osaka 2025.

Firstly, the NEB supports the competition for young European talents to design the EU Pavilion staff uniform. Designs will be evaluated by a team of distinguished Japanese designers, with the winner receiving a fully funded trip to Osaka and the opportunity to present their work to over thirty million Expo visitors. If you're under 35 and passionate about sustainable design, don't miss this chance to showcase your talent—submit your design here by 15 November 2024, at 12:00 (CET).

Secondly, the NEB will feature a dedicated NEB stand at the EU Pavilion, showcasing a selection of inspiring NEB projects from across Europe and the world. Innovative materials that reflect the NEB's commitment to sustainability and circularity will also be presented. Visitors will have the opportunity for a deeper, hands-on understanding of how design can simultaneously address environmental, social, and aesthetic concerns.

In addition, the NEB will host special events and sessions, with more details to be shared at a later stage.
