From 13 April to 13 October 2025, the EU will proudly participate in the Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. The New European Bauhaus (NEB) will play a central role, bringing its vision to life through dedicated events, exhibitions, and collaborations.

NEB events at the Expo 2025 Osaka

The New European Bauhaus will host a series of events and sessions throughout the Expo.

The first key event is NEB goes to Osaka: Kick-Off & Connect!, an online session on Monday, 14 April, 10:00-12:00 (CEST) / 17:00-19:00 (JST). This event will introduce NEB’s participation and feature six flash stories - three from Asia and three from Europe - showcasing projects that embody NEB values. Inspired by the Pecha Kucha format, each speaker will present 20 slides, with 20 seconds per slide, to tell their story.

Additional on-site events in Osaka, accessible globally via livestream, will be announced on this page in the coming weeks.

The EU Pavilion: Beautiful, sustainable, inclusive

The EU Pavilion at the Expo 2025 Osaka embodies the core principles of the New European Bauhaus: aesthetics, sustainability, and inclusivity.

  • Aesthetics: The Pavilion’s architecture merges modern design with Europe’s cultural heritage, creating an inspiring space that encourages reflection and dialogue.
  • Sustainability: Built with eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient technology, the Pavilion reflects Europe's commitment to sustainable development and environmental responsibility.
  • Inclusivity: Designed to be accessible to all, the Pavilion includes multilingual guides, interactive exhibits, and communal spaces that invite diverse voices to engage in meaningful discussions.

A dedicated NEB stand at the EU Pavilion

A special NEB stand at the EU Pavilion will showcase inspiring projects from Europe and beyond. Visitors will explore innovative materials that highlight sustainability and circularity while gaining hands-on insight into how design can address environmental, social, and aesthetic challenges.

EU Pavilion staff uniform inspired by the NEB

The official EU uniform at the Expo 2025 Osaka, designed by Slovakia’s Tomáš Maliňák, reflects the NEB’s guiding values. Selected through a competition and further refined under the mentorship of renowned Japanese designer Kunihiko Morinaga (founder of ANREALAGE), the uniform embodies the fusion of European creativity and Japanese craftsmanship.
