Born in Kanagawa, Japan, in 1979, Prof. Kawazoe graduated from the Department of Architecture at the University of Tokyo and pursued advanced studies in the Netherlands before earning a Ph.D. in Japan. He is the founder and principal of Kousou Inc., a first-class architectural practice, and concurrently serves as Associate Professor at The University of Tokyo, where he engages in design, research, and education.
His major works include The Grand Library of the University of Tokyo, Shikokumura Museum, and the Knowledge Center and Technology Incubation Park at IIT Hyderabad. He is also the author of OVERLAP and EXPERIENCE (Kajima Publishing), which explore architectural theory and spatial experience. His work has received numerous international awards, including the Tokyo Architecture Award Grand Prize, the American Concrete Institute 1st Prize, the Good Design Future Creation Award, and the Rogelio Salmona South American Architecture Award Honorary Prize.
