The Fountain Of The Kastaniani Forest Cooperative

The new workshop will take place from August 2 to 6, 2026, in the mountainous settlement of Kastaniani, as part of the Connectivity Conservation Initiative for Fresh Drinking Water / Phase II project. The goal is to ensure the supply of drinking water for both the residents and the local wildlife through the restoration of the Kastaniani Forest Cooperative fountain and its traditional wooden trough.

A hands-on workshop in the heart of nature

The five-day workshop will host 15 participants from Epirus, Greece, and abroad. Combining theory, practice, lectures, and field visits, the participants will be guided by local craftspeople and members of the Boulouki team, gaining practical experience in the restoration of the water intake, the fountain, the wooden trough, and the surrounding area, with a focus on proper and safe management, as well as reducing the environmental footprint.

Parallel to the practical workshop there is an open events program happening in the afternoon, free for everyone:

• Monday 3/8, 19:00 – Hands-on activity regarding forest and its management, Konitsa Forest Service
• Tuesday 4/8, 19:00 – Architectural walk in the settlement of Kastaniani, Boulouki
• Wednesday 5/8, 19:00 – Presentation and discussion on ecological corridors in Mastorochoria, Environmental Organization CALLISTO
• Thursday 6/8, 19:00 – Workshop presentation and celebration
