Identifying and supporting NEB-minded business that put at the core social innovation is key to deliver system change and new ways of living together. Making available NEB solutions for end-users, cities and regions, and other companies is essential to developing successful long-term solutions that match the needs of the wider community. The aim of this call for proposals is to identify and work with Start-ups integrating simultaneously the three core values of NEB in their operations, products and services. The activity aims to provide NEB and Business & Entrepreneurship support to 20 start-ups. Culture and creative sectors and industries are welcome into the call.

EIT Community NEB: Catalyse NEB – Horizon Europe  

Catalyse NEB is a start-up accelerator for ventures working to implement NEB values across Europe. The aim of this call for proposals is to identify and work with start-ups integrating simultaneously the three core dimensions of the NEB in their operations, products, and services. With the aim of fostering transformation using NEB core values, the EIT Community is looking for the most innovative start-ups in climate, digital, food, manufacturing, mobility, wellbeing, and overall quality of life in order to support their business growth and help them become international gamechangers. The activity aims to provide NEB and Business and Entrepreneurship support to start-ups with a clear concept, product or vision that could benefit from the EIT Community’s contribution.

Applicants’ products and services must address at least one of the NEB Thematic Axes, indicating one or more sub-challenges in their local ecosystem, and demonstrate their potential to scale-up. In addition, the products and services must clearly address an identified social challenge, ideally determined within a specific social group who would benefit from the existence of such products or services. Culture and creative sectors and industries are encouraged to apply to the call.

This topic will support the New European Bauhaus initiative and the implementation of the new EU Forest Strategy by making the construction sector more renewable and circular especially for existing buildings, which includes the use of currently underused timber such as hardwoods, salvage wood and post-consumer wood for traditional and newly emerging innovative woody biomass-based applications, while including circularity as part of a broader system and design loop.

The NEB Mentors activity responds to the need to provide to EIT Community NEB beneficiaries with quality of the experience and long-lasting effects of their efforts. NEB Mentors offer support, inspiration and guidance to EIT Community NEB beneficiaries, and the tandem of business and design expertise ensures the goal of NEB social innovation is targeted. Mentors are to “think Bauhaus” and encourage participants of EIT NEB Calls under Horizon Europe as well as related programmes to further integrate the core values of “Sustainability”, “Aesthetics”, and “Inclusion” underlying the New European Bauhaus ways of thinking and doing into their practices. NEB Mentors might be assigned to any of the following EIT Community NEB Calls: Catalyse NEB, Connect NEB, Co-create NEB, Enhance NEB, and Grow NEB. That is, NEB Mentorships will be adjusted, as needed.

The CoVE initiative supports a bottom-up approach to Vocational Excellence involving a wide range of local stakeholders. It enables VET institutions to rapidly adapt skills provision to evolving economic and social needs, including the digital and green transitions. They could contribute to the delivery phase of the New European Bauhaus initiative by collaborating with the communities involved in the local transformations fostered by the initiative. CoVEs operate in a given local context, being the linchpin of skills ecosystems for innovation, regional development, and social inclusion, while working with CoVEs in other countries through international collaborative networks.

This call encourages a mind change regarding the role of the arts in R&I in the spirit of a European innovation policy based on culture and values. DG CONNECT launched S+T+ARTS - innovation at the nexus of Science, Technology and the ARTS – and the European Commission President proposed the ‘New European Bauhaus’, where synergies between art and novel technologies are identified as enablers of the green transition. Thistopic will thus encourage R&I actors to adopt artistic experimentation as a complementary method for technology development and use across all European Commission programmes.

The objective is to bring EU CitiVerse industry, including SMEs, together in developing the different layers of VR/AR worlds useful for local authorities and citizens. This will create a steady and immersive environment for citizens and businesses, a CitiVerse, that can be used for virtual/real spatial planning, management or navigation while also enhancing the social, architectural, green and cultural heritage dimension of living spaces. This action will continue the deployment of an operational data space for cultural heritage. The objective is to make more high-quality content available, particularly in 3D, foster reuse of digitised cultural resources and provide more opportunities for the community to offer enriched services, thanks to the use of advanced technologies. The InnovLab support shall support the design, development and/or spread of innovative tools, models or solutions applicable in the audiovisual and other cultural and creative sectors. Activities shall aim at supporting the competitiveness, greening process, cooperation, circulation, visibility, availability, diversity and/or audience across sectors. Such activities shall contain a high potential of replicability in audiovisual and other cultural and creative sectors. The objective of the Creative Innovation Lab is to encourage cooperation between the audiovisual sector and other CCSs in order to accompany their environmental transition and/or to improve their competitiveness and/or the circulation, visibility, discoverability, availability, diversity and the audience of European content across borders. The support also aims to enable the European audiovisual sector and other CCSs to better adapt to the opportunities offered by the development of Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Worlds.

Amongst other topics, projects can focus on: “Greener” practices in order to lower the impact on the environment of the audiovisual and other cultural sectors in line with the Commission’s Green Deal and the New Bauhaus initiative.

The main objective of this action is to consolidate existing results and move towards an ecosystem of mature and networked Local Digital Twins (LDTs) across the EU to help cities and communities achieve economies of scale when developing their data platform and LDTs services.
