Description
Programme overview
The Slovak Republic, through the Authority for Spatial Planning and Construction of the Slovak Republic (ÚUPV SR), joins the New European Bauhaus Festival 2026 with a presentation of realised architectural, cultural-infrastructure and public-investment projects that connect quality of place, sustainability and social benefit.
The satellite event is conceived as a two-day programme hosted at the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brussels. It introduces Slovakia’s Architectural Policy - the first national strategic document of its kind in the country - as a concrete example of how New European Bauhaus values can be translated from vision into governance, regulation and everyday practice. Alongside it, the event showcases contemporary Slovak architecture through the CE.ZA.AR Architecture Award and opens a professional dialogue on how public policy and European initiatives can together raise the standard of the built environment.
The programme is structured across two thematically connected evenings. Day 1 is devoted to the opening of an exhibition presenting ten outstanding Slovak projects in the spirit of the New European Bauhaus, followed by a moderated panel discussion. Day 2 features the screening of CE ZA AR vo filme (CE ZA AR in the movies), a feature-length documentary presenting the best of contemporary Slovak architecture on the big screen.

Film evening: CE ZA AR vo fime (CE ZA AR in the movies)
Since 2024, the CE ZA AR Architecture Award platform has produced a feature-length documentary that presents a curated selection of the most distinctive realisations of each year, screened in cinemas and cultural centres across Slovakia and abroad. The project broadens the mission of CE ZA AR — connecting professional and general audiences and drawing attention to architecture whose value extends beyond the local context.
CE ZA AR has, for more than 25 years, been the prestigious award through which the Slovak Chamber of Architects honours outstanding architectural realisations — works that significantly enrich the material culture of Slovakia. Beyond recognition, the award supports architecture as a cultural and social phenomenon, fostering professional debate, education, and public awareness of the importance of quality environments for everyday life. CE ZA AR consistently opens architecture to the wider public, initiating discussions on the quality of our cities and public spaces and articulating the broader social value of the discipline.
