Description
Walking is dancing too. The Slow Walk My walking is my dancing transforms the most everyday of movements into a conscious, collective experience. Moving at roughly five metres per minute, three groups set off from three points around the Parc du Cinquantenaire and walk towards the Cinquantenaire Arch, where they arrive together. As the body slows, the shared space comes into focus. You see the architecture, the people, the textures and silences we usually pass straight through. The Slow Walk offers the simplest possible tool for re-perceiving the environment we build and inhabit together: our own pace.
Each route measures between 750 and 800 metres and the walk itself lasts about two and a half hours. There is no single way to take part: join for a long stretch or a few minutes, walk a whole route or step in along the way. On arrival at the arch, everyone is welcome to join a 30-minute guided practice of My Walking Is My Dancing, the improvisational dance practice developed by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, led by Sandy Williams and assisted by students from P.A.R.T.S. No previous dance experience is needed. The Slow Walk is open to all ages and abilities; admission is free and no registration is required.
This Slow Walk is an initiative of Rosas, GLUON and P.A.R.T.S., presented as part of the NEB Festival 2026.
