Rūta Leitanaitė is an architect, curator, critic, writer, and lecturer. Rūta serves on the Board of the Architects Association of Lithuania (AAL) and chairs the organisation’s Vilnius branch. Rūta coordinates the Creative Europe project “UREHERIT. Architects for Heritage in Ukraine: Recreating Memory and Identity” and chairs the Architects’ Council of Europe Task Force “Solidarity with Ukraine.” Rūta is in the experts’ sub-group "Safeguarding heritage in Ukraine" for the European Commission and is the initiator and coordinator of the New European Bauhaus Labs “Public infrastructure for Ukraine” and “Housing”.
Rūta is the coordinator of the Lithuanian State’s architectural competition “Future School for Ukraine,” an independent expert for the European Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award, and an external expert for the “Davos Alliance” within the Lithuanian delegation by the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania. Rūta is also Head of Architecture Studies programme at Kaunas University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
