Rūta Leitanaitė is an architect, curator, critic, writer, and lecturer. She serves on the Board of the Architects Association of Lithuania (AAL) and chairs the organisation’s Vilnius branch. Leitanaitė coordinates the Creative Europe project “UREHERIT. Architects for Heritage in Ukraine: Recreating Memory and Identity” and chairs the Architects’ Council of Europe Task Force “Solidarity with Ukraine.” She initiated and coordinates the New European Bauhaus Labs “Public infrastructure for Ukraine” and “Housing” and is part of the experts’ sub-group "Safeguarding heritage in Ukraine" for the European Commission. The Lithuanian State’s architectural competition “Future School for Ukraine” also counts on her expertise, as does the European Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award, and the “Davos Alliance” within the Lithuanian delegation by the Ministry of Culture of Lithuania. Leitanaitė is also Head of the Architecture Studies programme at Kaunas University of Technology, Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture.
