Have you ever considered that children can actively participate in the planning and designing of our future spaces? ???️?

"Keliaujanios architektros dirbtuvs," a Lithuanian project, believes that youth inclusion is possible and that it can strengthen urban areas within communities.

The program, which translates as "Travelling Architecture Workshop," takes place during the summer break and includes the staging of five-day workshops in seven small towns across Lithuania. Its goal is to encourage young community members to be active in building their local environment. ⚒️??️

The concept was one of many ideas submitted for the New European Bauhaus award prizes under the "Reinvented places to meet and share" category.

The project generates tangible urban initiatives with long-term value in public locations during the workshops, bringing the community together and encouraging the project's continuation.

Young workshop participants explore their environment and create new spaces and small architectural objects not only for themselves but for the entire community ?️?

Workshop participants include architects, artists, youth workers, and researchers (such as sociologists). With 52 distinct small architectural pieces produced in various Lithuanian towns' public locations since 2013, the initiative's methodology has been adjusted annually.

Keliaujanios architektros dirbtuvs is divided into five main elements:

? Resource redistribution
? Inclusion of the voices and experiences of children and young people
? Encourage community involvement
? Promotion and preservation of the worked spaces
? Developing knowledge transfer dynamics to listen to the community's desires, expectations, and aspirations.
