NEB-LAB Eco2-schools demonstrates that educational buildings can become enablers of the New European Bauhaus and powerful catalysts for cultural, social and environmental transformation. This project has developed an approach that shows how retrofit processes, when combined with openness and participatory pedagogy, produce measurable improvements in learning, community cohesion and sustainability citizenship. The key achievement of NEB-LAB Eco2-schools is showing that schools, universities and science centres can evolve from conventional educational sites into civic engines for the Green Transition, where architecture, learning and community engagement reinforce one another in a virtuous cycle.
