Generative AI models often repeat mainstream, commercial stereotypes of urban life in European cities. Local cultures and peripheral neighbourhoods are invisible in many generative AI outputs. These omissions can distort attention, routes, and residents’ experience. “Mapping Diversity” presents two maps of Brussels: AI’s Brussels, generated from repeated prompts, and People’s Brussels, built live as visitors pin places. The result is a public audit of what AI notices, and what it leaves out.
